WAFCON 2026: Okoronkwo Alleges Hotel Staff Stole Cash From Super Falcons Players

Date:

Esther Okoronkwo has alleged that staff at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca stole money from several members of the Super Falcons squad, Completesports.com reports.

The Super Falcons are currently camped at the hotel as they put the finishing touches to their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The forward made the claims in a series of posts on her Snapchat account, alleging that cash was taken from her wallet while the team was lodged at the hotel.

Okoronkwo Accuses Hotel Staff Of Stealing

Okoronkwo initially said $500 was missing but later clarified that, after recounting her money, she discovered a total of $700 had been stolen.

The 29-year-old further claimed that she was not the only victim, alleging that several of her Super Falcons teammates also had cash stolen from their wallets during the team’s stay at the hotel.

“This hotel Marriott in Casablanca just stole about a lot of people’s money from their wallet!” Okoronkwo wrote.

“They just stole 500 USD from me!! They stole couple of dollars from my teammate.”

In a follow-up post, Okoronkwo clarified that the amount stolen was higher than she had initially stated, writing: “Guys, I did my calculations wrong. They actually stole $700, not $500 USD.”

“The cleaning people stole the money. So they waited while we weren’t in the room to clean and steal the money.

“We started talking to them and they don’t have answers. They also started being disrespectful.”

Super Falcons Intensify Preparations For WAFCON 2026

The Super Falcons have been camped in Casablanca since last Monday as they fine-tune preparations for the WAFCON 2026 finals.

Justine Madugu’s side boosted their confidence with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania’s Twiga Stars in a friendly on Thursday, with Okoronkwo netting the decisive goal.

The ten-time African champions will begin the defence of their title against tournament debutants Malawi at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday.
