Two nabbed as police recover stolen N7.5m Adamawa vehicle

The Adamawa State Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle and arrested two suspects in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

Nguroje disclosed that the suspects arrested are Mustapha Suleiman of Wuro Hausa and Rabiu Garba, 38, of Jambutu, Yola North Local Government Area.

He stated, “The two were arrested following a report by Aliyu Usman. The complainant discovered that the Toyota Hilux he purchased for N7.5m had been reported stolen.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from Rivers State in June 2026 and transported to Adamawa State by a suspect identified as Mati, who is currently at large.

“The fleeing suspect allegedly conspired with the two arrested persons and sold the vehicle to the complainant.

“Upon discovering that the vehicle was stolen, Aliyu Usman promptly reported the matter to the police. Acting on the report, operatives of the command arrested the two suspects, successfully recovered the Toyota Hilux, and traced the actual owner.”

The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, commended the complainant for his honesty and urged members of the public to always verify the ownership and documentation of vehicles before purchasing them.

He further directed his men to double their efforts to ensure that the fleeing suspect is arrested and that everyone connected with the crime is brought to justice.

He stated, “Investigations are ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.”

Recall that the Oyo State Police Command, on July 8, arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a firearm allegedly used during a robbery operation along the Oyo-Iwo Expressway in Afijio Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, July 5, 2026, after the Police Control Room at Eleyele received a distress call reporting that armed robbers had blocked the highway around Akoda Village in Afijio Local Government Area.
