EPL: Arsenal to improve £70m Guimarães bid — Report

Arsenal are expected to increase their offer for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães as they step up efforts to secure the Brazilian’s signature this summer.

As reported by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano on X on Sunday, the Gunners are set to reopen club-to-club talks with Newcastle next week after an initial proposal of around £70 million failed to make a breakthrough.

“Arsenal set for new club to club contacts next week for Bruno Guimarães deal.

“Personal terms in place and new approach with Newcastle anticipated to proceed + £70m proposal expected to be improved.

“Deal depends on Newcastle United’s decision on exit/price,” Romano posted on X.

Personal terms are understood to have already been agreed with Guimarães, leaving negotiations between the two clubs as the final hurdle to completing the transfer.

Arsenal are now preparing an improved bid in the hope of convincing Newcastle to sanction the sale of their captain, who remains one of Eddie Howe’s key players.

However, the deal will depend on Newcastle’s willingness to negotiate and the valuation they place on the 28-year-old midfielder, with the Magpies yet to indicate they are ready to part with one of their most influential players.

Further discussions are expected in the coming days as Arsenal continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
