“It Will Hit You Hard” –Federer Discloses Sampras’ Advice Ahead Hall Of Fame Induction

Pete Sampras has advised Roger Federer that his upcoming International Tennis Hall of Fame induction would be a moment like no other that would hit him hard and hit home strong.

Ahead of his induction, Federer shared that he asked Sampras what the experience was like, and received the advice that looking back at his own career and standing among the sport’s icons would touch him deeply.

Federer expressed his excitement to have his memories play through his head and to be in the presence of the other legends of the game who paved the way.

He stated that reflecting on these icons is always inspiring.

“A little bit of the unknown, to be quite honest,” Federer admitted when asked about his feelings ahead of the ceremony.

“I remember speaking to Sampras about it. I had asked him, ‘How was it for you to get into the Tennis Hall of Fame?

“He goes, like, it’s a moment like no other, Roger. You’ll see it will hit you hard and it will hit home strong and so I’m looking forward to that, you know, too.

“Have my memories play through my head, seeing other legends or icons of the game who have paved the way for us and just being in there in their presence, I think it’s always very inspiring.”
