AEDC Announces Planned Power Outage In Parts Of Abuja

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a planned power outage in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday, July 4, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

In a public notice issued on Friday, AEDC said the maintenance exercise would be carried out on the 100MVA TR1 transformer at the Katampe Transmission Substation from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The company stated that the exercise forms part of TCN’s efforts to upgrade its network and improve the reliability of electricity supply.

Areas expected to be affected include parts of Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Lifecamp, Kado Fish Market, Idu, Karmo and surrounding communities.

According to the notice, “The technical team of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will be carrying out a maintenance exercise on the 100MVA TR1 at Katampe Transmission Substation on Saturday, 4th July 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.”

AEDC explained that electricity supply to the affected locations would be disrupted during the maintenance period.

“This planned maintenance is being carried out by TCN as part of its network upgrade and reliability improvement efforts. During this period, electricity supply to the affected areas will be impacted,” the company said.

AEDC appealed to customers in the affected communities for understanding over the temporary disruption and advised them to contact its customer service line for further enquiries.
